Description of Program
The Archdiocese of New York sponsors a faith based program for recent college graduates who would like to serve the Church and the community in the ministry of education for one or more years. Volunteers serve as faculty members in schools which are Catholic inner-city girls' high schools. Additional. optional responsibilities include: after-school tutoring, coaching after school sports and supervising club activities. The ministry of teaching is supported by an integrated life of prayer and community living.
Area of Service
Volunteers teach in high schools of the Archdiocese, principally in inner city areas of Manhattan and the Bronx.
Term of Service
The period of service may be one or two years.
Qualifications
- Desire to serve in the Church through the ministry of Education
- College graduate
- Desire for prayer, community living and apostolic service
- Completion of Application
- Interview,. references
- Orientation before school year begins
- No prior teaching experience necessary
